Uganda will hope to start their 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge with a win as they will face Burundi in Group B on Monday.

The Cranes were suppose to kick-off their tournament against the Warriors of Zimbabwe, but the Southern Africans pulled out as guests at the 11th hour, citing insecurity in Kenya as the reaseon

Coach Moses Basena’s men will want to ensure they defend their regional crown and will want to get a win over the Swallows.

Fresh from an impressive 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign, Uganda will want continuity as far as their progress is concerned.

The two nations have met on 12 occasions and the Cranes are enjoying an advantage, having won eight times, drawn twice and lost two games.

Ahead of the regional tournament, the defending champions, who have 14 CECAFA trophies, beat Egypt 1-0, drew 0-0 against the Black Stars of Ghana and also played to a stalemate against Congo in their World Cup qualifiers.

Looking at Burundi, they will want to bag their third win over their opponents.

Heading to the East African tournament, the Swallows lost 1-0 to Sudan and also bagged a goalless draw in their 2019 CAF African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The match will be staged in Kakamega and get underway at 15:00 (CAT).
