Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic and Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz bettered only by PSG's Kylian Mbappe for goals and assists
Only Paris-Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe has had a direct hand in more goals than the Bundesliga duo since 2016/17.
Inter Milan forward Yann Karamoh and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar complete the top five.
Pulisic came of age in his first full season of Bundesliga football in 2016/17, his three goals and eight assists in 29 top-flight outings helping Dortmund secure UEFA Champions League group stage football.
The 19-year-old USA international has added a further four goals and five assists to his top-flight tally in 2017/18, impressing on the right- and left-hand side of the attack in what has been a somewhat up-and-down campaign for Dortmund as a whole.
Watch: Christian Pulisic, Dortmund’s boy wonder
Dortmund currently occupy fourth place in the Bundesliga standings, behind a Leverkusen outfit fuelled increasingly by the creative genius that is Havertz.
The 18-year-old became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 50 appearances last weekend, his eighth and ninth assists of the season – already three more compared to 2016/17 – key to the 4-1 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt.
He also has three goals, adding to the four he netted last term.
Watch: Kai Havertz has the world at his feet
What makes those numbers even more impressive is that: (a) both players are involved in an ultra-competitive battle for a top-four finish – Havertz even had to fend off relegation last season – and (b) both came through their respective youth ranks at Dortmund and Leverkusen.
Mbappe, by contrast, has shot to the top of the creativity charts on the back of two very one-sided title wins – first with parent club Monaco and more recently with PSG.
The France international, 19, is set to cost Paris an eye-watering €155million when he makes the permanent switch to the capital in the summer.
Pulisic and Havertz, meanwhile, meet in the Bundesliga this weekend, when fourth-placed Dortmund welcome third-in-the-table Leverkusen to the Signal Iduna Park.
Prepare to be dazzled…
